Getting Started
Heating up
Fill the water tank with fresh water, plug in the machine and activate the front switch from 0 to I.
Wait until the machine is completely heated up and the pressure indicator shows around 1 bar. This will take around 10 minutes with a previously cold machine.

⇒ Please note that after unboxing your machine, one time only, you need to activate the steam knob right after turning on the machine so that the boiler fills up, and again after heating up, in order to release a potential vacuum build up. Finally, dispense a cup hof hot water from the group head. For detailed instructions see chapter 5 in the manual.

Espresso Preparation
Generate here our recommended variables for a perfect espresso:

Coffee in Basket:

Time (= Grind Size):

Liquid in Cup:

Grind Size:

Coffee runs too fast & tastes sour, watery, or empty
Choose a finer grind size and make sure that you have enough coffee in our portafilter (about 8-9g with single basket, about 16-18g in the double basket).
With ESE pods, make sure that the pod is well inserted and centered in the special pod basket.

Coffee runs too slow & tastes bitter, too harsh
Choose a courser grind size and make sure that you don't have too much coffee in the portafilter (about 8-9g with single basket, about 16-18g in the double basket)
With ESE pods, make sure that the pod is well inserted and centered in the special pod basket.

ESE Pods
ESE pods can be used in the single basket or the special (more shallow) pod basket that we ship with your machine. ESE pods are normed to 44mm and 7g coffee, which can result in different thicknesses of the pods depending on the blend. With thicker pods it might be peferable to use the single basket with more depth over the more shallow special basket.

Cleaning
Prevention
Always use filtered water according to our water recommendations. The reduction of limescale can extend the average period until servicing becomes necessary, while strong build up of limescale can significantly reduce this period.
Run water from your brew head daily: about 10 seconds before the first coffee and about 3 seconds after every brewed coffee.

Recommended cleaning
We recommend a daily backflushing of the machine with the blind basket without cleaning detergent. Once a week, backflushing with special detergent is recommended.
After steaming milk, always purge the steam wand immediately and clean it with a wet cloth. If used frequently, we recommend steaming special cleaning detergent once every 2-3 weeks.

Technical Help
Machine does not heat up or turn on
Check if the machine is in eco mode. In oder to wake up the machine from the eco mode, simply use the turning switch on top of the group head as if you were making coffee. In order to deactivate the eco mode, press the button at the bottom of the machine. Also check if there is enough water in the tank. Make sure the activation switch is not in the "on"-position. Turn the switch always to the original "off"-position when turning on the machine.
